Space open for members use

I encourage any member who paints or draws to come and take advantage of the new space. The north light during the day is really nice. There is water available in a container and there are tea bags and instant coffee (just remeber please to unplug the pot!)

We still have a group that meets on most Monday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30 and the Tuesday evening group is there most Tuesdays from 6:00 till 9:30. We have a lot of fun together even when we are not all in the mood to paint. This week, December 15th, we will be talking about perspective drawing, something a lot of artists struggle with.

Please join us!

Linde workshop

Laughing

The workshop with Steve Linde on Saturday, December 5th was wonderful! There was a nice turnout of about a dozen artists, icluding a couple of new members. Steve demonstrated and discussed a few different methods for us, using alcohol on sanded surfaces to underpaint and lock in the color, using black Canson paper to create the darks, using watercolor underpaintings and not using your fingers to smudge, just lightly blending one color pastel over another. Some of us worked on black Canson paper and some on sanded surfaces. We all turned out nice landscapes. We hope to have Steve come back in the spring and maybe show us how to paint snow scenes in pastel. Something I will certainly be looking forward to.

New Space Finally Available for Use
Mood:  happy

The Board has had its first meeting in the new space. While there is still much that needs doing, there is good north light during the day and plenty of tables and easels to work at. The Tuesday night workshop will be held there tomorrow from 6 till 9. All members are invited to  come and paint with us!

While there is no sink, water is available. I bought a big container with a spigot at the grocers and I will bring a 5 gallon bucket for waste water. The old coffee pot is in one of the boxes so we can make coffee or tea if we want. (the coffee and tea and sweetners etc. are also in one of those boxes).

It may not be perfect, alright it's not at all like what we had, but let's get in there and see what we CAN do. At least it is a space where like minded artists can get together and create.
