November 2009

The November Meeting date has been changed! Again!!!

Due to the second Wednesday of the month falling on Veterans Day, when the Town Hall will be closed, we will meet on Wednesday November 18th. The business meeting will start at 6:45 as usual, hopefully followed by a demonstration by Beth Ellis. Joyce Brown has confirmed with Beth Ellis and she will be talking about and demonstrating how to use the new water based oils.

There will be a members art show held in November in the Newington Town Hall lobby. The opening reception will be November 21st. Members may enter 2 pieces and the fee for each piece is $5.00. Members should drop off their art work, framed, wired and ready to hang with artist, title, meduim, size and price on November 17th between 10 am and noon at the Town Hall Lobby.

December 2009

Steve Linde will be doing a pastel workshop on December 5th from 9 am - 3 pm. The cost is $45.00.

There will be a Board meeting at 11 am, immediately following the pick up of art on Friday, December 18.

Year-round Member Events

Monthly Meetings:

Held the second Wednesday of each month, September through December and March through June, from 6:45 pm to 9:00 pm.

Visiting Artist Demonstrations:

Presented at monthly meetings in various mediums.

Member Workshops:

Mondays, Painting

Flo Dickie, 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Tuesday evenings, any medium

Pat Tanger, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Workshops are open, free of charge, to all NAL members.

A $5.00 fee will be charged ot non-members.

Pastel Club:

Thursdays,

($5.00 fee per visit)

Fran Baillargeon, 9:30 am to 11:30 am

Art Show:

Held annually in November. Monetary prizes are awarded for best in show, first, second and third place winners. Six honorable mention ribbons are also awarded.

Exhibits of Members Work

Newington Art League members currently have artwork on display at the Newington Chamber of Commerce and at The Connecticut Valley Insurance office. These pieces are for sale. Inquire at the office if you are interested.
